Cheapest social media scheduler: compare by cost per finished post
A social media scheduler publishes your posts at times you set, and this guide ranks the cheap ones by what each finished post really costs a small business.
Prices and plan details checked October 2026
Most price lists rank schedulers by the monthly fee. That skips the bigger bill: the hours you spend making the posts the scheduler sends out.
A $0 tool that leaves you designing every image can cost more than a $19 tool that makes the post with you. Below are the prices, the math, and the point where free stops being cheap.
Which social media scheduler is actually the cheapest?
It depends on what you already have. If your posts are finished and you only use Facebook and Instagram, Meta Business Suite schedules both for free. If you also post to TikTok and LinkedIn and need the posts made, Adly Spark costs $19 a month as of October 2026 and publishes to all four. If X is on your list, Adly starts at Solo, $49 a month.
The verdict in one table

| LinkedIn's own scheduler | Finished updates posted to LinkedIn only | Free with a LinkedIn account | Built into LinkedIn and schedules LinkedIn only | LinkedIn scheduler review |
| Buffer | Small teams with finished posts who want one queue for a few networks | Free plan listed. Paid from about $6 a month per channel as of October 2026, check the pricing page | Built around a posting queue across several networks | Buffer review |

Our pick for owners who make their own posts
Adly AI: a low-cost scheduler that also makes the posts
Adly AI is an AI marketing platform for businesses and agencies. For a price shopper the core loop is short: describe the post, Adly designs it and writes the caption from your brand profile, you approve both, and Adly publishes or schedules it to your connected accounts.
Best for: owners and solo marketers without a designer who post to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok or LinkedIn and want one fee to cover making and scheduling.
- Creation inside the plan: single post designs, designs built around your product photo, carousels and short videos, all within your monthly usage limit.
- Two checks before anything goes live. You approve the design, then the caption.
- One Calendar and one Posts inbox for scheduled and published posts across every connected network.
- LinkedIn on every plan, with up to 9 images or a video per post. Our LinkedIn scheduler feature page covers the details.
- Stories go to Instagram and Facebook. TikTok, LinkedIn and X get feed posts.
- Automations prepare free weekly post ideas and holiday designs for each brand, and you approve them from an email in one tap.
- When you want paid reach, turn an approved post into a Facebook and Instagram campaign from the same account.

What each Adly plan includes for publishing
| Plan | Monthly | Publishes to | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spark | $19 | Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn | AI designs and captions, scheduler and Calendar, Idea Generator, Autopilot, Meta campaigns, leads. Monthly usage limit covering images, text, video and landing pages. |
| Launch | $29 | Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn | Everything in Spark, plus tasks and to-do reminders |
| Solo | $49 | Adds X: up to 4 images or one video, 280 characters per post | Multi-product designs, Adly in WhatsApp and Telegram for posting from chat, priority support |
| Growth | $119 | Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, X | Multi-brand mode for running several brands, VIP support |
Each plan has a monthly usage limit covering images, text, video and landing pages, and it renews each month on an active subscription. Pro and custom plans serve larger teams with higher limits.
How do you calculate cost per finished post?
Cost per finished post is the full price of getting one post live. Add your monthly software bill to the value of the time you spend making and scheduling posts, then divide by the posts you actually publish.
A finished post is a designed image or video with a caption, approved and published. Empty scheduling slots do not count, because a slot has no value until someone fills it.
Use this number to compare a free scheduler with a paid tool fairly. A free tool costs $0 and leaves the design and writing to you, while a tool that makes posts charges a fee and cuts the hours. For most small businesses the hours are the bigger bill, so the cheapest scheduler is often the one that helps make the post, if its plan covers your networks.
Cost per finished post = (software fee + hours spent x your hourly value) divided by posts published
Worked example: 13 posts a month to four networks
Picture a home-cleaning company that posts 3 times a week, about 13 posts a month, to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and LinkedIn. These are assumptions, so swap in your own numbers:
- The owner values their time at $25 an hour.
- Making one post by hand in a free design app, writing the caption and scheduling it in each network's own tool takes about 45 minutes.
- Reviewing an Adly draft, approving the design and caption, and scheduling it takes about 10 minutes. This is our assumption for the example, not a measured figure.
Route A: free tools, you make every post
- Software fee
- $0.00
- Time: 13 posts at 45 minutes
- 9.75 hours
- Time value at $25 an hour
- $243.75
- Monthly total
- $243.75
Per finished post $18.75
Route B: Adly Spark, billed monthly
- Software fee
- $19.00
- Time: 13 posts at 10 minutes
- 2.17 hours
- Time value at $25 an hour
- $54.17
- Monthly total
- $73.17
Per finished post $5.63
What the numbers mean. The software fee is the small line. In Route B the $19 is about a quarter of the total. In Route A the hours are the whole bill.
Adding a paid queue scheduler to Route A changes little. Whatever it costs sits on top of the same $243.75 of time, unless it also saves you design hours.
The break-even rule. Spark covers its own fee if it saves you more than about 46 minutes a month at $25 an hour ($19 divided by $25 is 0.76 hours). At $15 an hour, the line is about 76 minutes.
The fee-only view. If you only look at the subscription, Spark at 13 posts a month is $1.46 per post.
Idea time counts too. If you stare at an empty calendar every Sunday, add that time to Route A, or let the social media content ideas generator draft the week for you.
These are estimates built on the assumptions above. If a designer already sends you finished posts, Route A's hours drop sharply and a free scheduler may come out ahead.
How do brands on Adly actually post?
Adly platform data, 1,118 brands, March to October 2026.
Scheduling is the normal way owners publish. Nearly every post goes into the queue first, so a clear calendar matters more than a publish-now button.
The typical brand publishes 2.4 posts per active month, and almost all of those go out on a schedule. That is a light, planned rhythm. Pick a plan for the posts you will truly publish, and upgrade only when you fill it.
About 1 in 9 designs got a change before it was posted, so most went out as first made. Leave a few minutes in your week for the odd edit.

Adly vs a free scheduler plus a design app
For most cheap scheduler shoppers, the real choice is a small fee for a tool that helps make posts, or payment in your own hours. Here is that trade side by side.
| What you compare | Adly (Spark or Solo) | Free scheduler plus design app |
|---|---|---|
| Monthly fee | $19 on Spark, $49 on Solo, as of October 2026. | $0 for the platforms' own schedulers. Design app plans vary. |
| Networks in one place | Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and LinkedIn from one Calendar on Spark. | Meta Business Suite covers Facebook and Instagram. TikTok and LinkedIn are scheduled on their own sites. |
| Who makes the post | Adly designs it and writes the caption from your brand profile | You do, in the design app |
| Check before publishing | You approve the design, then the caption | You review your own work |
| Stories | Instagram and Facebook stories from the same Calendar | Set up in each platform's own tool |
| Paid ads from a post | Launch a Facebook and Instagram campaign from an approved post | Built separately in Meta's own ads tools |
| Planning a week | Calendar, Idea Generator and Autopilot | A separate calendar in each tool |
What you gain by switching
- One login and one calendar for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and LinkedIn.
- Design and caption work inside the fee. In our worked example, the estimated cost per finished post fell from $18.75 to $5.63.
- A fast start. Brands on Adly published their first post after a median of 0 days (Adly data, March to October 2026).
- A path to paid reach from the same posts. If ads are your next step, compare budget-friendly AI advertising platforms before you choose.
What you give up
- A monthly fee, even in a slow month.
- If a designer already sends you finished posts, you pay for creation you may barely use.
- A one-time move: reconnect your accounts and rebuild your upcoming queue in Adly's Calendar.
Most of the move is on the Meta side, since Facebook and Instagram carry most small business posting. Our walkthrough of automated Meta and Instagram post scheduling shows the setup from connected accounts to a filled calendar.

Free schedulers from the platforms

- Official site
- Meta Business Suite on Meta's site
- Best for
- Owners with finished posts who publish only to Facebook and Instagram.
- Strengths
- Free and made by Meta. Handles Facebook and Instagram together from one place.
- Weaknesses
- Covers only Facebook and Instagram, so TikTok and LinkedIn need their own uploads. You make every post yourself.
- Pricing
- Free, as of October 2026.
- Better than Adly when
- You post only to Facebook and Instagram, your images are already done, and Adly would save you less than about 46 minutes a month, the Spark break-even at $25 an hour.
TikTok's own scheduler
- Official site
- TikTok Studio on TikTok's site
- Best for
- Creators who post finished videos to TikTok only.
- Strengths
- Free and built into TikTok, so there is nothing extra to connect.

- Better than Adly when
- TikTok is your only channel and your videos are already edited.
LinkedIn's own scheduler
- Official help article

- Small teams with finished posts who want one queue for a few networks.
- Strengths
- Built around a posting queue and calendar across several networks. Lists a free plan, which makes it an easy place to start.
- Weaknesses

- Pricing
- Free plan listed. Paid from about $6 a month per channel as of October 2026, check the pricing page.
- Better than Adly when
- Your creative is already handled and you want a free starting point for a few channels in one queue.
Later

- Later pricing
- Best for
- Brands with a designer or a photo library who plan an image-led feed.
- Strengths
- Built around a visual content calendar, so you can plan how a feed looks before posts go out.
- Weaknesses
- Planning a visual feed assumes you already have the images. Check what creation the plan includes and whether X sits on an entry tier.
- Pricing
- From about $25 a month as of October 2026, check the pricing page. Confirm any free plan or trial there too.
- Better than Adly when
- You have finished visuals and care most about arranging the look of your feed.

- Better than Adly when
- You post rarely, your time is cheap, or design is part of your craft.
Prices checked October 2026.
When is a free scheduler enough?
A free scheduler is enough when your posts already exist and you only need them sent out. It gets expensive when you are also the designer, the writer and the person uploading to each network.
Free is enough when all three are true
- Your posts are already finished, from a designer or your own phone.
- You post to Facebook and Instagram only, or you accept one upload per network.
- Adly would save you less than about 46 minutes a month, the Spark break-even at $25 an hour.
Free costs you more when
- You publish to three or more networks and repeat each upload.
- You design every post yourself from scratch.
- Posts slip because making them takes too long. Light posting is common: the median brand on Adly publishes 2.4 posts per active month.
Fine print to check on any cheap plan
- X can cost more to reach. Some schedulers place X on higher tiers or bill it separately. Check which tier includes it before you pick a plan.
- Count your accounts first. Compare tiers by the number of profiles you use today. A tier that fits three channels does not help a business with five.
- Check where stories can go. Adly posts stories to Instagram and Facebook. TikTok, LinkedIn and X get feed posts.
- Ask what the limit covers. On Adly, the usage limit covers images, text, video and landing pages, and renews monthly on an active subscription.
- Skip old promo codes. List posts often carry expired codes and old prices. Check the live pricing page before you buy.
