How to split a panorama for Instagram

  1. 1

    Upload a wide image

A panorama, a group photo, a wide banner or a long design. It opens in your browser and stays on your device.

  2. 2

    Choose the number of slides

Pick anything from 2 to 10. The wider the image, the more slides it needs so each part gets room to breathe.

  3. 3

    Pick the slide shape

4:5 is the standard portrait size in the feed, 1:1 is the classic square, and 3:4 is the tallest of the three and matches the profile grid shape.

  4. 4

Download and post as one carousel

Save each slide or the full set as a ZIP, then add them in order to a single Instagram carousel post.

Why use this carousel splitter

Seamless joins

Slides are cut from one continuous strip, so lines, horizons and text flow from one slide into the next.

2 to 10 slides

Choose exactly how many parts you want, from a simple two slide reveal to a ten slide sweep.

Three slide shapes

4:5, 1:1 and 3:4, the most common shapes for Instagram posts.

Automatic fit

The tool crops your image to the combined width of all the slides, so every slide comes out exactly the same size.

One slide or one ZIP

Download a single slide, or the whole set in one ZIP file.

Works for designs too

Not only photos: long menus, infographics and product lineups split the same way.

Private by design

Everything happens in your browser. Your image never reaches our servers.

Free, no account

No signup and no email. Open the page and start splitting.

Ideas for a seamless carousel

Hotel and venue panoramas

Show a full hotel view, a beach or your new shop floor the way it looks in person.

Product lineups

Place a whole collection side by side in one wide design, then let followers swipe along the shelf.

Menus and price lists

Lay out a long menu or offer list as one image and split it into slides that are easy to read.

Stories in stages

Design a before and after, or a process, on one wide canvas so the story unfolds with each swipe.

How seamless Instagram carousels work

A seamless carousel (also called a panorama carousel) is one wide image cut into equal slides. Posted together as a single carousel, the slides sit edge to edge, so each swipe reveals the next part of the same picture. It works because every slide is exactly the same size and the cuts fall on shared edges.

The total shape matters. Three 4:5 slides make one strip with a 12:5 ratio; five 1:1 slides make a 5:1 strip. If your image is not that exact shape, the tool crops it to fit, so some of the top and bottom (or the sides) may be trimmed. Choose the slide count closest to your image’s natural width to keep the most of it.

Instagram uses one shape for every slide in a carousel and allows up to 20 slides per post. This tool makes 2 to 10 slides, which covers most panoramas. Keep faces and key words away from the cut lines, and put a clear hook on slide 1, since it is the only part many people see before they swipe.

Want to fill rows of your profile instead of one post? Use the Instagram grid maker. To check where text sits before you post, try the social safe zone tool.

Carousel splitter FAQs

Is the carousel splitter free?

Yes. It is free, with no signup and no account.

Is my image uploaded to a server?

No. Splitting happens inside your browser and the image stays on your device.

How many slides can I make?

From 2 to 10 per image. Instagram itself allows up to 20 slides in one carousel.

Which slide shape should I choose?

4:5 is the standard portrait size in the feed, 1:1 is the classic square, and 3:4 is the tallest and matches the profile grid shape. Keep one shape for the whole carousel, because Instagram shows every slide in the same shape.

Why was part of my image cut off?

Together, the slides form one fixed shape, such as 12:5 for three 4:5 slides. If your image is taller or wider than that, the extra is cropped. Try a different number of slides to keep more of it.

Will there be a line between the slides?

The tool adds no line or border. The slides are cut from the same image, so their edges meet exactly.

What kind of image works best?

A wide, high resolution image with the subject spread across the frame. Small images can look soft once they are cut into several slides.

Can I use the slides on Facebook or LinkedIn?

You can use them in any multi image post, but the seamless effect depends on how each platform displays the images. The tool is designed for Instagram carousels.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes. It runs in the browser on phones and computers.
